SSP

FAQ

 Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)

Tune your nervous system. Reclaim your calm.

The Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-hour therapeutic listening program designed to gently regulate your nervous system. Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, the SSP is rooted in Polyvagal Theory and supports emotional regulation, sensory sensitivity, and your body's ability to feel safe—what Porges calls neuroception.

Through specially filtered music delivered via over-the-ear headphones, SSP stimulates the vagus nerve, a key player in calming the body, improving social connection, and restoring health after chronic stress, illness, or trauma.

Why SSP?

If you’re empathic, highly sensitive, or living with a complex chronic condition like EDS, MCAS, or dysautonomia, your nervous system may be in a near-constant state of alert. SSP works by gently stretching—not stressing—your system, creating new neural patterns that support resilience and regulation.

You may benefit from SSP if you experience:

  • Chronic stress, anxiety, or trauma responses
  • Auditory sensitivity or overwhelm in noisy environments
  • Difficulty feeling safe or grounded in your body
  • Emotional reactivity or burnout from caregiving, empathy, or illness
  • Disconnection from joy, creativity, or social connection

What to Expect

The protocol is offered in short, customized listening sessions over several weeks, delivered virtually in partnership with me. Together, we’ll pace the program to suit your system and integrate it with somatic tools, breathwork, and education as needed. The goal is simple: to build a nervous system that supports you—not sabotages you.

Healing is Not Always Complex

As someone who has lived through and worked with chronic illness, I’ve learned that real healing happens in consistent, life-affirming practices—not just big interventions. SSP is a beautiful entry point. It reconnects you to safety, sound, and self.
