About

A mystic in a lab coat.

35 years of clinical science. 48 years of meditation. One body that taught me everything the textbooks left out.

Dr. Anna McConville

I didn't come to body-mind medicine through a textbook. I came to it through my own body.

As a teenager living with significant pain, I found meditation, movement, and dietary change. Not because someone prescribed them, but because nothing else was working. Those tools gave me back my life and eventually led me to the International School of Mime and Comedy, where I studied embodiment and expression in ways that still inform how I see people move and hold themselves today.

I graduated with my physical therapy degree in 1990 and started my clinical career inside a functional medicine practice. From day one, my work integrated biofeedback, neuroplasticity, psychoneuroimmunology, and somatic awareness. These weren't trendy additions. They were the way I understood healing, because they were the way I had experienced it.

Early in my career, I built and led a multidisciplinary practice with 17 staff members, working alongside physicians and neurologists in a model that was genuinely collaborative. That experience set my baseline for what good care looks like.

Over 35 years, my focus has deepened around the people who fall through the cracks of conventional medicine: hypermobility, EDS, mast cell activation, dysautonomia, chronic pain, nervous system sensitivity. The ones who have been told it's anxiety, it's stress, it's in their head. I know what it feels like to be that person, and I know what it takes to find your way through.

I live in a body with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I've been meditating since 1977. I've spent decades learning what it actually takes to build resilience when your physiology doesn't follow the textbook.

This isn't about fixing. It's about understanding. When you actually learn how your system works, you stop guessing and start building something real.

What I'm Doing Now

I'm shifting the shape of my work. After three and a half decades of hands-on clinical practice, I'm moving into consulting, education, and the LUMINA Series — which is really where my deepest work has always lived. Teaching people how their nervous system functions. How self-regulation works. How neuroplasticity isn't just a concept but something you can access in real, practical, vital ways.

I also offer executive Sleep Coaching, cannabis consulting for pain management, and I'm an ongoing student of everything that helps people come home to their own biology.

Beyond the Clinic

When I'm not teaching, you'll find me standing in an actual stream with my feet in the water. Writing, playing with fabric art, dreaming — because creativity is medicine. Sending love through the mycelium toward whoever needs it. Refusing to stay in bed.

Every tool I teach, I've used on myself first. Every class I offer comes from lived experience, not just clinical training. After 35 years, I've learned: there's always a way through. Not around. Not over. Right through the messy middle. That's where life is lived.
